The Thompson's Company has earned a well-deserved reputation for identifying industry trends and emerging technologies. Polymer chemist Edward Addis Thompson developed a formula in the early 1920's that protected buildings from exterior water damage. His discovery became known as Thompson's WaterSeal Clear Multi-Surface Waterproofer and was initially used by architectural and construction firms for concrete applications.

Addis has been appearing on Thompson's WaterSeal packaging for more than 60 years. He is named after E.A. Thompson – Edward Addis Thompson, the man who founded the company and invented the original Thompson's WaterSeal formula. Addis has appeared on every can of every Thompson's WaterSeal product for decades, but he just made his TV debut in 2014.

The Thompson's WaterSeal product is a wood sealer and stain, all in one. It is semi-transparent and designed to prevent water damage, applying to freshly cleaned damp or dry wood. It can be used on decks and fences, outdoor furniture, and exterior wood.

The product is available in the Woodland Cedar color, providing a natural look to the wood while offering protection from the elements.
